PC Building for the first time [NEED ADVICE!]

Hi all,

I would like to build my own desktop PC as i got a lower end laptop to bring out for use. Hence i'm selling my gaming laptop (GS60 2QE GHOST PRO 4K) to switch on to a desktop.

This is the first time i'm actually building one so hopefully you guys can advice.


CORSAIR AIR 540 BLACK = $189 (ZTOMICLAB.COM)

MSI X99A GAMING PRO + i7 6800K = $1149 (PC THEMES)

G.SKILL Trident Z 3200MHZ 2x8GB = $199 (PC THEMES)

MSI GTX 1060 6GB GAMING X O.C = $529 (PC THEMES)

CORSAIR RMI 850W 80+ GOLD = $235 (PC THEMES)

SAMSUNG 850 PRO 256GB SSD = $195 (PC THEMES)

TOSHIBA 2TB 7200RPM 2 YRS = $97 (PC THEMES)

WINDOWS 10 HOME PREM 32/64 BIT = $158 (PC THEMES)

COOLERMASTER HYPER 212X PWM COOLER = $69 (PC THEMES)

Is this set up okay? Or where else can i save a little bit more?

Yr build is almost perfect till I see 1060
with yr system build
I tot you will have added GTX 1080 in SLi
cooler can upgrade to corsair h115i, coolest cpu cooler in town since you getting K series cpu chip
seems overkilled just for gaming????
If you are rich, then why not lol

your motherboard and cpu overkill, go for i7 6700K and a z170a motherboard

change your gpu to 1080, you will have a better experience in gaming
Powersupply can consider Superflower Leadex Gold 650w

if it for gaming, even a i5 6600k is enough. see the vid for the benchmarks. the extra money spend for an i7 can be used to get a gtx 1080. Why wanna get a gtx 1060 haha... somemore msi variant cost like 500+. u add abit more can get a gtx 1070 from palit around 500+ too i think.

lol same sentiment as others, u got all the parts looks so powerful and GTX 1060 appearing out of no where it's like u paying so much for a Ferrari but some parts of your engine is like not much of a horsepower.

maybe u can get a sli titan X to enjoy immersion of 4kgaming.

if just for gaming,
I totally agreed that you need only i5-6600k with z170 mobo
my fps with this build can match titan x pascal fps assuming titan x pascal not overclocked.

On top of what everyone else have already said, the 850 PSU is overkill for a single card setup. Go for the 650.
