Hey guys, so i built my own pc for the 1st time last year, and now i am a little bored of how it looks already. But am lazy to source for parts and upgrade because i don't really trust my skills (afterall i built my pc following youtube videos).
I kind of have to use my pc everyday for work and games and i was hoping to bring my cpu down to a shop to get upgrades like new casing, new aio & new mobo. Other than SLS any nearby shops in the north able to do direct upgrades on the same day?

Thanks in advance!

I guess you can start off by naming the parts in your current rig and state your goal

Currently on Corsair 4000x casing, looking to change a new look, b550f gaming mobo looking to change to x570 for the 5800x. also interested in the ryujin ii 360mm as now only on 240mm aio by corsair.

Considered ITX form factor? I moved from many years of mid tower ATX casings to an ITX recently. I must say I love the compactness of it all. Can look at the Coolermaster nr200 as it's one of the easiest ITX cases to start off, with great features on cooling and organization

Yes bro considered. but then again using 5800x it already heats up pretty high in ATX. not sure if it will worsen if switch to ITX lol

You don't need to change to x570 for the 5800x.

AIO can get Arctic liquid freezer II 360, much better than Ryujin II 360mm.

If you want a nice-looking case can consider a fractal torrent, just note that it's gigantic.

any reason for the sudden switch to a x-570 mobo? will be a pointless upgrade if you're not using the features of an x-570 mobo

Actually not really a reason. My mobo doesnt have usb c connection for the case. 😅 and thinking of adding 1 more nvme m.2 ssd and the 2nd slot is gen3 pcie. So thought i can upgrade lo

Convert your USB 3.0 to a Type C internal connector

Also, Gen 3 PCIe is plenty fast for a 2nd m.2 ssd.

If TS has a PCIe x1 or x2 slot available, getting a PCIe card with the USB chip is better. If use this adapter it will mean the USB 3 ports on the case now won't work :s13:, I was in the same scenario a while back.

Realised PCIe cards are the better option, because not only the USB 3 header will be left alone for the Type A ports, you can actually get 10Gbps USB-C for twice the connection speed if you pick the PCIE x2 cards rather than the PCIE x1 cards.

I got this one, works absolutely fine out of the box with Ryzen. Well it did once I figured out which way Type-C internal headers connect, which was way harder to figure out than it looks.

That is a great solution too. I thought most motherboards will include 2x USB 3.0 internal ports. My board has 2 of them (and also a type C internal).
His Asus B550-F Gaming has 2x USB 2.0 internal and 1x USB 3.0 internal. His case, 4000x includes USB 3.0 and Type C internal connectors. Not compatible with the motherboard sadly.

Better to use the PCIe external card to expand the internal Type C port.

meanwhile i just use the usb 3 to type c adaptor, while for the actual front panel usb 3 type a i just adapted that to be used on usb 2 :s22: that pcie card u linked looks a little pricey though.

Yeah given I do a lot of large file transfers I really didn't want to have all my front panel USB be USB 2.0. I would vomit blood trying to transfer 30-50GB video files.

My last case I bought in 2016 had one USB 3 and one USB 2 port so any device to device transfers were atrociously slow. Didn't wanna make that mistake again. :s13:

This one is definitely a bit more ex cos of the 10Gbps port + internal USB 2. There are cheaper cards if you just need 5 Gbps type C, around $16.

But since I planned to use this new rig for 5 years or so, I thought might as well spend the $10 more then no need to buy another card to upgrade again later.

Is not that I wanna spend more now, is that I don't wanna spend more later. :s22:
