Hello experienced friends :s12: ,

Kindly share your knowledge on your recommended coolant for PC watercooling (and where to get in Singapore).

Since I change my fluid constantly, I am only using pure distilled water without any additives. I don't use silver coil as i'm worried of any aluminium impurities.

I am looking for a branded long term fluid. I was only able to find the Mayhems pastel & Mayhems XT-1 through Simlim / Carousell.

What are the other choices / quickest method I can get my hands on a branded coolant locally in Singapore?
- Koolance, EK, Mayhems, or Pt nukes.

Thanks for the help

Haha you dont need all these overpriced crap. All you need it 1 bottle/can of radiator coolant concentrate. Usual one is greenish in colour. If you prefer red, caltex one is red. Autobacs has blue as well. You can go for water wetter too. Coolant centrate is good because helps to lubricate your water pump bearings.
Thanks! I read coolant for vehicle is not a great thermal conductor thus is not used in PC. It's just to prevent rust in iron. It's water circulation that does the heat exchanging in vehicles.

Back to water, is there a difference between pure distilled water & RO (reverse osmosis / deionized water)?

Got my answer

Deionized still has mineral and metal dissolved in it. This will reionize quickly in a loop and corrode. Anyone that says differently is DEluded (pun intended)

Distilled only. That simple. Most grocery stores carry it. Even walmart does

Edit: deionized can be used in glycol/alcohol mixes due to properties of the media

Conductivity of RO water is around 5 µmhos/cm if I remember the last water treatment plant I started up. The demineralized water was around 0.07 µmhos/cm.

You dont use the concentrate alone, you add it to water, around 10% will do.

The purpose of the additive isn't to improve thermal conductivity, its to prevent corrosion and algae growth. Also to lubricate the pump.

PC cooling is no different from vehicle cooling. The water is just a carrier for the heat. Radiator cools the water while CPU heats up the water. The pump circulates the water.

Btw, modern cars no longer use cast iron engines, its aluminum now, so corrosion protection is important esp. since pple use tap water for their radiators.
Thanks! Which coolant are you using? Btw, does "lubricating" means oil? It shivers me thinking that goes through my waterblocks..

Since when car coolant was really suitable to be in our custom loop?

It isnt the best thermal conductivity and also its a little too strong for liquid cooling components. It is much more viscous than water and probably places more strain on PC water cooling pumps than they're designed for.

And on top of that, if you really wanna use glycol coolant based, mayhems has it cheap at $14.90 in lazada from Ztomic. This can be mixed with distilled water to produce 1l of coolant. Guaranteed to work well and better heat transfer than a car coolant.

And the fact that not all kind of tubings can be used with all kind of tubes. Look at the link below. There is a chart that represents what coolant can be used for which kind of tubings. Not every tubes can be used.

https://mayhems.co.uk/coolants/xt-1-coolant/xt-1-nuke/xt-1-nuke-clear-concentrate-coolant-100ml/

Glycol based coolant cannot be used with hardline PETG tubings. It will slowly degrade and melt through time. So dont anyhow just buy coolant. Look carefully what you are putting it in.

I will recommend either Mayhems or Aquacomputers coolant. Both of them are working very well in my friends pc and also all my previous water cooling project. It will not stain any water cooling components. And it has biocide and other corrosion prevention contents inside which are safe for pc usage.
