pcie wifi adapter

from what i understand, router is more important than the wifi adapter on PC. but assuming i cant change my default singtel router or get a LAN connection, got any preferred wifi adapter to buy? or it makes no difference/just get cheap one because the bottleneck will be the router

Who tell you can't change SingTel default router?
And you need to know if the router support dual band AC wifi or just N?
