Hi guys , I was looking through some threads on my research but to no conclusion as my brain is unable to comprehand IT jargons .

Wanna seek pros recommendation.

My ideal site shld be a personal site about myself then linking to say another site to what i do and the services i provide.

Both sites intend to have regular updates and possibly a news feed. I intend to include a subscriber channel and/or a chat room if possible.

Now with such requirements, i was wondering what kind of hosting and platform can suit my needs? I seriously know nuts about joombla or wordpress etc . Pricing wise i m looking at budget and keeping cost low at $10 - $15 /mth .

Appreciate any inputs, insights and recommendations.

if you wanna go the easy route and cheap, then GoDaddy is probably your best choice.

justhost.com

it's bundled with a quite a few content management apps like joomla etc..

i signed up for this recently.. after looking thru google for top 10 hosting sites...

i paid $197 for 48 months hosting + domain (including 1 year of whois privacy guard)

that works out to be less than 5 bucks per month..

Yup like the bros pointed, a budget of $10-$15 a month is a no problem for a LINUX web hosting environment and provided you pick a .com domain (cuz .sg domain will cost another $30 dollars if i am not mistaken).

One thing to take note, unless you are comfortable with the web hosting provider else never get tied up more than 3 months (It is always easier to pay money than asking for refunds).

The web hosting company that I am using now to host my website is sparkstation.net (A singapore based company). So far they have been responsive with their support.

Hope it helps! Wordpress seems to be sufficient to address your problem :)

For personal website, why not use openshift ?

1. Is free.
Managed by redhat, and use amazon aws infrastructure .

2. Setup Wordpress is so easy. Just a few clicks. Your website powered by Wordpress is up and running, total time taken to setup should not more than 5 minutes.

3. You can use your own domain

All you need to spend is, around us$11 per year for the domain name .
Register your domain at godaddy, namecheap or your preferred domain registrar .
