I think it's safe to change money at the banks.

Going Phuket in late August. Haven't book any hotel. If budget is 100 sing a night any recommendations? Prefer Karon and near beach and if possible with pool in hotel. Best case got free shuttle to patong.

Also who you all usually book tour from ah? I see TA all recommend PST but like v expensive leh their tour.

i cant rmb... around 30+???

I opt for the phiphi island+monkey bay+Khai island.

Khai island is beautiful but very painful too... too many corals and seashell on the beach... very hard to walk barefooted.

Also i heard from the tour guide. that next month or so.. they are increasing the visitor fee to the island but double... you might want to contact haowei and find out more...

Tour guide also said that the monsoon season is coming... just be aware.

i will recommend sitting at the boat front cos it is more windy and less stuffy.. but u will confirm kanna burnt up down left right.

Just came back from Phuket. I did sign up with haowei88's tour package on the Phi-Phi island hopping. Currently it is on offer with the SG50 promo. I must say its really worth it comparing to the other prices from the roadside vendors and some of the online offers from various tour agencies.

Haowei is always available when you have any problems. I remb once the driver was late to pick us up in the morning. He immediately phoned the driver and update us on the ETA of the driver.

Also, on our last day, we booked a cab via Haowei88 instead from the hotel reception. His price is way lower to the usual hotel rate of THB1000 to the airport.

All-in-all, I think when one is travelling overseas, it is always important to have a reliable tour agency, so that there wont be any hiccups that will affect your travelling experience. Furthermore, his price rate is really good as well.

i agree not to stay at Patong area unless you are very into night life. Nothing much there actually and things are much much more exp.
Do rent a car if possible so you are not restricted to only 1 area and less headache to travel around. No need IDL, just passport and driving license let them photocopy only. They will pick u up from airport to their office(which just across the road), do paperwork and there u go. Return back to same office and they send u to airport. Save up on airport transfer. Car rental are cheap too and no parking fee needed. Got space just park unless some shopping mall.
Venture to the eastern part of phuket coast (Rawai, etc). More local and relax. Many value for money beach side restuarants available.
You can even do a day trip up north out of phuket to Phang Nga. Buddha cave, waterfall, many beautiful viewpoint.
