Pipo U8

Got a U8 last week from aliexpress, still evaluating it whether to keep, to sell or to return it... going through love-hate relationship with this tablet...

Upgraded to latest English firmware downloaded from Pipo website, no more chinese apps.

Bought Sandisk Ultra MicroSD 64GB and reformatted to NTFS and it worked fine with the tablet.

Tried flashing custom firmware from Riley but touchscreen became a bit crazy so now back to the official firmware

Wifi is quite weak and slow to reconnect after wake up from sleep...

Battery life is quite good, standby eats very little power.

USB charging is good, but only 2A charger works.

Some apps not compatible (e.g. Streetdirectory Map) or cannot run (The Sims)... custom firmware should make more apps available/compatible but more research needed to get some other apps to even work at all...

Can't wait for more official firmware updates to hopefully fix apps compatibility and wifi issues!!

I have set my sight on the U8 as well but after researching, I found that it has a weak wifi(same problem for most MIC tablet) mostly because it has a loose antenna, Pipo U8 - SlateDroid.com which needs soldering. I'm not an IT expert, that's why I gave up U8 as my target.

My pipo u8 wifi is working good. Can watch movies at pps n youtube. Got from funkuno. Tested and verified before acceptance of tablet.
For loose component, the user must have drop it. Or bad delivery.

Been using U8 for 1 month plus now and everything seems to be working fine and great.

Some reviews to share:
Battery Life:
Great as I can use it to play games the whole day and it can still last till night time or if I just use it for document and surfing, it can last at least 2 days

Firmware:
I think their custom kids rom was good but I had flashed it wish custom rom (kasty) so those Chinese and kids feature was gone too. (Nevermind since I do not need it)

Charging:
Bad thing about this set was that the device will not cut off power once the battery is fully charged. It will just keep using power and charging the tablet. Lucky was that it takes a few hours so I just leave it at night and plug out in the morning would be just nice for fully charged tablet.

Speed:
This tablet was quite smooth for the 2GB Ram and Quad processor. Playing of video (BlueRay standard) or Graphic games was smooth and good.

Earpiece:
I think this tablet can only accept normal earpiece without mic. I tried a few earpiece with mic and it seems to play good base but voice of humans in the voice cannot be hear. So for now, I am either using a normal earpiece without mic or to use my own mobile to watch movies.

Speaker:
Working fine but would prefer it to be louder if possible.

Wireless:
No issue connecting to almost all the Access Points outside (Those that cannot do not know if it was the APs having issue to this tablets is having issue). Connection was quite stable too.

Apps:
Some of the apps like streetdirectory and games are not compatible with this tablet and I am not sure if other tablets are having the same issue.

So far, I had not tried out the Bluetooth feature yet but should be fine since I do not wish to use up my battery too fast too.

Bad point is no GPS and Built in 3G / 4G (LTE) so I can really be mobile while using this tablet.
