Planning For Japan Trip ...

Have planned something like the following, but still can change. Seems too rushed? I haven't planned what I want to see in Tokyo/Kyoto yet.

Any suggestions?

Question: Is JR Pass needed?

Arrive KIX and go to Kyoto

Kyoto

18 Dec
Kyoto
Make way to Kinosaki onsen

19 Dec
Kinosaki Onsen

20 Dec
Kinosaki Onsen
Back to Kyoto, go to Tokyo using Shinkansen

21 Dec
Tokyo

22 Dec
Tokyo

23 Dec
Tokyo and leave for home.

u can consider getting the JR Kansai Wide Area pass for 7200yen to cover the trip to kinosaki. then just get single trip ticket for kyoto to tokyo for 13600yen. total 20800yen compare to a 7-day JR pass which cost 29110

is this your first time in Japan?

If so, I don't recommend going to Kyoto and Tokyo in such short days

I would recommend concentrating your days in one Region
Kanto (Tokyo, Side Trip to Nikko and Kamakura)
Kansai (Kyoto, Osaka, Nara)
