Pocket Square materials

What materials do you guys prefer your pocket square to be made of? Silk, cotton, linen, etc?

I'll like to hear your thoughts on this because some people say there are strict rules like linen pocket squares are only meant for summer etc?

Do you guys follow any strict rules when it comes to pocket square wearing? Personally I don't really follow these rules and normally decide which one to wear depending on my mood?

Personally I don't feel that important, because we seldom use pocket square. But if I really wants to buy one, I won't go for print design fabric. I will go for cotton fabric.

I think forget about the rules. It's summer in Singapore all year round anyway ;-).

Wear the pocket square that complements your outfit. Silk ones are nice in that you get a nice sheen. But the more delicate ones are almost impossible to fold so I end up using the puff fold which is quite nice really (and easy to do). If I want sharp folds, linen or cotton are quite good. Most of the time I'm choosing based on the colour and pattern of the pocket square rather than material, as I don't have the luxury of a large collection... lol
