Hi, my friends and I just rented a whole unit. We visited the house once only and forgot to check whether the house has Fibre Termination Point installed.

I tried to check at Open Net website and I got a message "Your address is within fibre coverage. Please proceed to sign up now. Installation fee apply.".

I believe the message only meant the area is within fibre coverage and do not meant the house has Fibre Termination Point installed, am I right?

How can I check the house has Fibre Termination Point installed?

Thank you. :)

That message just means there your address or area is within the Fibre coverage. So you can get OpenNet to install the TP in your unit. Not sure what are the charges though.

Home Reached
You are ready to use fibre broadband. Congratulations!
OpenNet has successfully installed the Next Gen NBN infrastructure in your area and wired up your building.

Home Passed
You are not able to use fibre broadband because your TP is not installed.
OpenNet has installed the Next Gen NBN infrastructure in your area but the TP has not been installed at your address.
As OpenNet typically offers to install a TP in every housing unit as they install the infrastructure for an area, your household (or previous tenant) may have missed the one-time OpenNet offer to install the TP (it comes in the form of a letter) .
For such cases, to get OpenNet to install the TP at your address specifically, additional OpenNet charges will apply.
For high-rise residences, the OpenNet charge for TP installation is $235.40.
For landed premises, it is $481.50.
For business addresses, it is $548.91.
If no one at your address has missed or turned down an OpenNet offer for free TP installation, there should be no cost for TP installation.

You can also check if your unit have any TP installed by looking out for this box.

why not give the house owner a call?
since you have rented a whole unit, you can ask for more info.

For renting house it is best to use Mobile BB which is quite fast or 100Mbps cable BB.

If you rent the unit for less than the duration of your fibre contract, be prepared to pay additional charges for relocation or termination. With cable BB, you can 'move' the cable modem and it will still work (unfortunately not the case for fibre).
