Power Tripped and Advice Needed

Hi guys, my situation below and wish to have some advices and input from you all.

I have this dual UK plug outlet on my wall. I have 2 power extensions connect to each of the 2 plug on the wall. Connected devices are my desktop, laptop, monitor, router, fibre modem, external hdd and some plugs for phone chargers etc. My desktop is those low end type.

Once a while when I switch everything off in the morning (normally I don't switch off) and power on everything again, the power tripped. Even when I change the power extension and unplug everything, it can trip once a while. I used wall plug power meter that can check the voltage, current and wattage used, it shows 246v.

I went away for holidays for 3 weeks and my macbook adapter went dead (I did not power off my stuff at home). One of my external HDD with RAID 1 HDD both died within 3 years. Two of my desktops Gigabyte and Asrock branded motherboard both died within 3 years.

What is wrong? Do I need a voltage regulator? Would an UPS help with regulating?

use a good plugs and extensions with power surge protection eg. Belkin. Dont overload your electrical outlet.

Hi, thanks for your input. I do not overload. In fact when I unplug all devices and switch on the power, it still tripped.

Do you have any reason why you would suggest a surge protector? Would it help with my issue?

huh.. you just on the switch without anything plugged in and still can trip?

If you meant with a new power extension with nothing plugged in and it tripped when you flip the power switch on the wall, then likely is the wall socket.

One of your devices faulty and consume more than the 240v? Don't tell me... you use cooler master psu?

Your house electrical wiring got issue, better check by an electrician.

most probably one of the sockets on power extensions faulty.

I have a 13yr old Belkin power extension, one of the socket is faulty.
Anything plug inside will tripped the whole house.
Replaced with Schneider power extension.
No problems liao

A permanent solution would be to hire a qualified electrician to check and rewire the whole flat.

Sockets and wires do wear out over time and HDB wiring is not exactly fantastic to begin with.
