Prepaid sim card/Data sim card

Hello all,

I read somewhere and understand that Japan doesn't sell sim cards for calling plus data? so it is either data sim card or those wifi-to-go devices? correct?

Actually, I need sim card that allows calling, so it's easier in case we lost each other while shopping.. lol.. I also need data for checking on google maps, whatsapp, hyperdia, email, fb, ig etc.. Is there such a sim card that allows both that I can buy upon touching down at Osaka?

If no, which will be a better choice? data sim card OR wifi-to-go? I'm also afraid my phone is not compatible with their sim card.

Yes.
You cannot buy, u can only rent such cards...

Just use data and call via Line ba. =p

is data sim card better or wifi-to-go device better? sim card seem to be a bit troublesome according to what I read.

Data sim = everywhere
Wi-Fi = selected hotspot

Convenience: Data Sim > Wi-Fi
Price: Data Sim > Wi-Fi

Recommendation: rent from dimitri_can

Oh no... I always thought wifi-to-go means wifi on the go at anywhere, anytime.. didn't know need hotspot. gosh.. guess I misunderstood.

But most are actually mobile wifi where the same data sim is inside a battery powered router and thus the router act as a hotspot on the go.

How can I rent the mifi/sim card from you? is this upcoming 20 Oct to 31 Oct available and still in time to rent now?

I will be travelling to Japan with my bf and what we need is data on-the-go, so we can check maps, transport (most important). Also, stay connected in case lost each other.. hehe..

Please advice.
