My child Primary school registration is June 2021 and I’m staying within 1km within my preferred school.

If I shift house by this year, how the school gauge the 30 months from the start of p1 registration.

currently u staying within 1 km radius of the sch tt u wan to send your kids to.
if u shift this yr, will it still be within 1km radius or 1-2km radius or beyond the 2km radius?

30 months start from the date u register for primary 1. And the address used at that time will be the one indicated on your NRIC

After I shift it will be 1-2km instead of within 1km.
I guess that will push it further back in terms of priority

So I Guess I will be further down the pecking order since the address used at date of registration would be the new address (within 1-2km from preferred school) instead of my current address (within 1km)

is it the school that you wan to send your kids to, the more popular ones?

yes as pointed out, when u register your LO for P1 in 2021 round of exercise, the system will draw out your address records at a certain cut off date as the address...

based on my own recollection when i register my elder one this year, think it's either march/may of the registration yr..

Based on this year's record, the system uses the address as of 31 May 2020.
I don't see any registration phase in JUN though as the earliest phase (Phase 1) starts typically first week of JULY.

then it's really up to u to make the judgement call & even weigh the pros & cons to shift house now or later

i suppose u or your spouse by any chance former alumni of the school?

or even consider other schools as back-up choice?

if the sch that u r aiming for is the traditionally popular sch, then be mentally prepared balloting can happen even @ the earlier rounds of registration...by the time come to phase 2C, no chance

think u can search for the past few years' enrolment trend to see how it pans out

if the last few years (take at least 4-5 yrs' trend as a reference start) the school is having ballot even as the earlier rounds of registration, then best is have back-up plan as i don't think u wont want to put all eggs into 1 basket
later cant get in the school
then u have to start scrambling for a place in the latter phases such as phase 2C(S)

We would internally have a 2nd or even 3rd choice.
Why do U mean by putting all eggs in the basket... i think it is different from PSLE to secondary school (stating first few choices).. correct me if I’m wrong.

My spouse and I not alumni.. so parents who at earlier phases don’t get a spot at popular school would need to settle for others (back-up choice) at phase 2C or 2C Supplementary

when i meant putting all eggs into 1 basket
i.e. putting all hopes to die die must get into that school A for example

perhaps u can look at the past yr balloting trend of the school that u are looking at...if it's habitually every year need to ballot even @ the earlier rounds (i believe there r schools whereby parents who may be on the formal alumni association or graduate from that primary sch but didn't formally join the alumni), then i think u and your spouse have to decide if it's still worthwhile to poh luck and try
