Hi,

I have an Epson L365 printer (ink tank system, uses external liquid ink) and i'm receiving the error message

"A printer's ink pad is at the end of its service life.
Please contact Epson Support."

Anyone can share experience how to deal with this?
  • How much does replacing ink pad cost?
  • Is it worthwhile getting ink pad replaced or should I just buy a new printer? For some context, the printer seems to be functioning fine (scanner is working all that)

The 6mm thick white felt below the print head soaked with ink hence triggered the error message. DIY repair by replacing the felt is not economical unless a high end model. You need to dismantle 75% of the printer to access the wet felt directly below the print heads at the bottom of the printer. I repaired one for experimental purpose, not worth the time of 2+ hours cutting the felt to the required shape&size, carefully clean the sensor and finally assemble everything. It works but you are better off getting a new printer if it's more than 5 years old.

no need to disassemble. its a built in failure feature after 20000 prints

cool tip!

Is the replacement process simple enough that I can do it from video tutorials? also, where did can I buy the felt?

My printer around $400, and less than 5 years old. It's still working fine from last time.. not sure if worth the effort
