Problem with m2 ssd heatsink

Hi all, I am using a Jonsbo M2-3 heatsink with transcend mte220s. I have used both thinnest thermal pad provided for bottom and top but it can't be closed because the SSD is too thick. My question is can I resolve it by using only the thermal pad for the top side of SSD and leaving the bottom SSD in bare contact with the alluminium heatsink. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Will there be any issue if the bottom side of the SSD is in direct contact with the heatsink?

The pcb must not come into contact with the aluminum surface, it will cause short circuit and kill the ssd. You need to have a layer of insulation.

I would strongly not recommend having bare metal in contact with electrical components. I rather you leave the rear of the SSD bare. The heatsink is mostly to cool the SSD controller, less of the NAND.

Depending on the placement of the M.2 slot, this may not be a good idea because the heatsink is quite thick, and may obstruct the card that is above it. Moreover, I heard you are not allowed to remove the built in heatsink. In doing so, you void your warranty.

what u doing with ur ssd sia. burst read/writes wont be enough to throttle a ssd.

Not sure abt throttling but ssd can get surprisingly hot, maybe 50c. Those sata ssd got the 2.5" case as the heat sink. Those M.2 naked can burn. Laptops with 2xm.2 side by side, in confined space, heat dissipation is a challenge.

nand flash run efficiently at hotter temps. as surprising as that is, they are designed to run hot.

try scrolling back and forth the timeline of a project in adobe premier pro and see what happens to the temps of your nvme ssd lor.
