Problem with my 2 1080s

Currently I have a 4k ultrawide monitor (the acer predator x34).
My PC Specs : Intel Core i7-6700k 4.00 Ghz
2 Nvidia GTX 1080s in SLI (yes I triple checked to make sure SLI is enabled)
32 GB ram

So, the problem is that I am not sure why I am not able to run games at 3440x1440 (native res) at high settings. I had to play AC odyssey at medium settings (getting barely 50 fps) and I have to run Apex Legends at medium settings (getting about 60-90 fps, if I put the game on high settings fps drops to below 60).

To be frank, I feel that I should be able to run these games at max (or at least high-ish) settings no problem since I have 2 1080s. Can anyone tell me if there is a problem with my computer? All drivers are up to date too.

2x 1080 does not mean twice the FPS.

Try disable SLI, play with one card and see what the FPS is.

Both games do not officially support SLI, hence the poor FPS. Your only solution is to play with SLI disabled.


For Apex Legends, there seems to be a fix if you are willing to give it a try.

Yeah I do know about the land of no return with SLI cards but I never expected 2 cards to perform like that :/. Alright, thanks for the advice! will try when I can!

Don't really recommend SLI nowadays as support is literally non existent anymore. Be it games, drivers, OS etc etc...

Stick to 1 GTX 1080 for a painless experience. Not worth the money and also the setup requirements like power consumption and heat output.
