Procedure to scrap a car

Hi,

My car is left with 9 months and I planning to scrap it. What is the procedure and how to scrap ? Can I get a high cash back for trade in or sell to car dealer ?

if you want to scrap now on your own you will get PARF + $80 (from scrap yard on the spot) + pro rate COE Rebate + Pro rate Road Tax Rebate. All these you will get later by LTA.

Own scrapping is very easy.

All you need to do is to apply for LTA PIN.
With this PIN you activate when you wish to scrap or export.
Send your vehicle to scrap yard/export dealer.


You can try Quotz to see if any dealer want to export your ride.

why scrap now? Might as well drive for another 9 months then scrap

Thank for your interest.

I'm planning to drive till COE expired. Unless COE drop then I will consider buying another car.

look at my trail log, right from applying PIN, to request for GIRO transfer to my bank account.



If you don't do s/n 1 & 2 also can. LTA will send you a cheque.

even for a few days left, LTA will refund you the pro rate road tax too. The notification for this will be via snail mail.

It is better to do this on your own. The last time I scrap my car, I send it to AD. That car got about a few months left. They take every rebate because I have authorised them to scrap for me. I also found out they export my previous ride rather than scrapping them.

So for those of you who is getting a new ride and would like to let your AD 'scrap' your car for you, its better to check whats your car worth at time of deregistration. Of course if AD give you high over-trade then there is no issue.

For the Transaction PIN mailer, can it be opened or must it be totally sealed when I go to the scrapyard?

Just scrapped my car last week. Called all the scrapyard for body value, found one that satisfied my ask and drove down. I didn't apply for anything as my car still had a week left. Scrapyard help me dealt with the paperwork

how those people remove engine and such when scrap ah? i saw alot selling engine parts/seat etc. how to drive to scrap yard like this ?

Can open. I opened mine just to see what is inside. Just some kind of password number, which the scrapyard needs anyway to do some online input at their end.

Car going to scrap in one month time. Can i apply for the LTA pin now? I intend to scrap my car before i left oversea if no one interested my car
