Actually, Ervino is just casually commenting on the public and private healthcare landscape. I'm sure he knows when and how he is eligible for claims with shield plans.

And i wanna add this:
Don't worry about private specialists outpatient not being able to claim. They got 1001 ways to make sure you are able to claim almost everything and anything when you see them. lol. Let the doctors tell you, I won't share it here, just in case next year they inflate premiums sky high again. :s22:

I switched from Prudential and other insurance companies to Aviva (SAF) for hospitalisation and term plans. They seem to be much cheaper. The only drawback is the plan only covers me to a certain age.

Just to be clear, the Aviva-Mindef plan is only for term. That is the one that covers to age 65, or to age 70 if you don't mind the huge premium spike.

The hospitalisation plan is not under SAF, and there is no age limit.

Exactly the kind of thing that makes premiums go up every year.

Keep your current policy. The insurer has to pay for your hospital bills related to colour deficiency and slip disc as long as you pay your annual premiums on time.

If you missed out in paying, the insurer has the right not to renew for you.

Exactly the kind of thing that makes premiums go up every year.

as there will always be inflation, premium increases are inevitable, the questions are

(1) which insurer will increase premiums the least
(2) which class of hospitalisation plan will have the smallest increase in premium (hint: NOT PRIVATE :s13:)

the IP is for situations where the medical condition is serious enough to warrant hospitalisation. If it is serious enough to warrant hospitalisation, the govt hospital will not tell you to come back 1 mth later :s13: Based on my family's experience with B1, A wards, i am totally satisfied with the care received.

my suggestion is to go for regular health screening/checkup. Early detection is much better!
