Hi all,

Been a while since I posted in hwz but a Google search pointed me over here

I have caught the console gaming bug since ** and started playing Division 2 on PS4

My PSN account is Asia account, games are stored on the Asia network.
Game disc is R2 with french words.

I was trying to buy the DLC, and like most unassuming ppl I just bought it off SG PSN and it doesn’t work.

My question is

1) can I go onto UK network to buy the DLC so it works and i switch back to Asian account to be able to load my saved game?

2) buy r3 game plus dlc , but I’m worried my saved game which is saved on server wont be able to load.....

Appreciate if can get some help or information here as I’ve been trolling the internet for a while but couldn’t clarify.

Thanks!!

I'm assuming that both your UK and Asian accounts are on the same PS4, and that your game progress is logged under the Asian account.

In that case, my guess is yes. When I buy US PSN games (even with DLC), and I switch back to my SG PSN account, I can still load my SG save and use the DLC.

2) buy r3 game plus dlc , but I’m worried my saved game which is saved on server wont be able to load.....

Not sure about this. It depends on how Ubisoft's organization of the servers + saves on their end. Maybe they organize by Ubisoft login, in which case your R3 game + DLC should still work if you use the same Ubisoft login.

Also possible that they organize by client-side software version.

For Division 2, each region has a different product ID: US (R1) is CUSA12639, UK (R2) is CUSA12630, Asia (R3) is CUSA12615. When the ID is different, typically you cannot buy DLC from one region for base game from another region. For this particular case, since the R3 version has Chinese, Korean and Japanese in the same package, and the R2 version probably has multiple European languages in the same package, it's very unlikely to be compatible (as you have found out).

Your base game is R2, you will need to create UK account to buy R2 DLC. Creating the account is pretty simple, just select UK as country, put in a fake UK address (there is a sticky thread for that). After that, you need to top up your account's wallet balance. UK psn store will not accept your SG cc/dc or paypal. You need to buy UK PSN card digitally, from Amazon UK, they give you the code immediately, you redeem it on UK psn store. (You switch your Amazon billing address to UK, doesn't matter that you cc address is still SG. Note that recently I mentioned this to someone, I think he was trying to buy Monster Hunter DLC, but he couldn't get Amazon UK to accept it. I have been able to buy UK psn card from there successfully for years, but did not personally try recently. So your mileage may vary.) Then buy the DLC using your UK account, switch back to your SG account to play.

Since the product ID is different, usually that means the save files are not compatible with another region, so buying the base game again from another region means you have to start the game all over again. However Division 2 is an online game, and from what I understand, there is no local save file on your PS4. The save file is on Ubisoft's server. There is a good chance that the server only cares about your account id, not the particular product ID of that same game. So my guess is your can continue the game progress even when you switch the base game to another region. At least that's how Destiny 2 works. (Can't remember whether I tested The Crew, might also work the same way.) This is just my guess. Since Division 2 has a free demo, maybe you can test it out -- use another account (just in case, you don't want to mess up your current save), install demo from R2 (you will still need to create UK psn account to download R2 demo), play a bit, save/quit, delete the demo, install demo from R3 (using SG account), see if you can continue from there.

Note that if you swap the base game version, there may possibly be a little different in the UI, due to XO button function swaps -- in R3, O is ok, X is exit, in R1/R2 the mapping is opposite.

Hi Pierce

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge....

Yep I read your earlier posts on the different regions DLC.

I couldn’t update sooner because I took a plunge and decided to get a digital copy of the game on Asia Ps store for $49.90.

Felt it’s an easier option because I didn’t have to replay my first 30 levels.
And the bundle came w a free level 30 boost which I wanted as my security incase, didn’t help my UK acct required me to start from zero.

Lastly,

My data saved on the Asian Ubisoft network worked and loaded onto my digital version, which meant I didn’t need to replay from the start.

Personally I wished I got the digital version from start, would have been a “cheaper alternative” .

Thanks Pierce, appreciate your help in clarifying
I’m sure it will help me in future game purchases.

:)
