Hi,

My PS4 keeps crashing when I try to play FF7r. Everything in the screen suddenly becomes jumbled up for a second the screen turns black as if the console is switched off. It happens during both game play and when the game is loading.

When I try to switch it on, nothing happens and I have to turn off the power at the wall power socket for a while then turn it back on. The PS4 then starts in some recovery mode that takes a while before going back to the usual home screen.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong or has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks

Sounds like a HDMI cable problem to me, the PS4 may still be running but the TV is not getting the signal. And when you turn off wall power, the PS4 is not shut down properly, so it reboots in recovery mode.

Is this happening to other games or the PS4 menu? What is your PS4 video settings, like resolution (hdmi auto?), HDR, etc?

So far the console only crashed completely when I'm playing playing FF7r. Sometimes the machine crashed when I'm I was playing other game but it'll go back to the ps home screen instead of powering off like the above.

Strange...

Hdmi is auto, cuz I never changed the setting since the first day I bought the console. HDR settings should be default too, since all ever I did with the console was insert disc and play

i think best is u bring to service center n check
maybe just hdmi issue or some other internal part issus
since u play other game it will crash as well

Have you changed the HDD before? That could be one of the causes.

I recently played a game Syberia 3 and when I reached certain part of the game, it practically crashed on me like every few minutes! I think the auto report sent to Sony probably more than 20 times. Initially I thought it may be due to my 2TB HDD which was a refurbished one (original 2TB crashed previously in a power outage, talk about unlucky) but looks more likely to be the game, at least in my case.

Another game I encountered multiple crashing is Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4, though not as frequent as Syberia 3.

Thankfully seems like both cases are due to the games themselves as I have no issues with other games so far.

For your case, you could try to uninstall the game, install another similar sized game (so that other game occupies the HDD space previously holding the FFVII), then reinstall FFVII again (which will be installed in different area of HDD) to see if it solves the issue.

I haven't changed any component since I bought the console.
But I'll try reinstalling the game. Thanks

I have encounter ff7 remake crashes due to save game corrupted, what I do is to delete the whole user profile and re-sign in again and it works for me, you can try if it helps.

Btw, do remember to backup your save to cloud so that you won't lose your progress.
