Purchasing iPhone in Japan

I will be going again in Feb next year. A couple of my friends asked me help them buy (with or without tax free) once they found out how much I paid

Any regional function different ? Still prefer local set is better in case of trade in in future.

after many days of no stock in all the major electronic retailers, on second last day of trip managed to find iphone 17 Sim free in Yodabashi Kyoto.

They had all colors except green so guess a fresh batch of stock just arrived that day. Quickly bought one with tax free before it got snapped up

Was in osaka during the iphone launch 2-3 months ago but didn't get it - thought there was no tax free at yodabashi, actually bought a camera lens there. So I got the Air here in sg. Am going there in february and backside itchy to get the pro max...

why speak the quiet part out loud if you so choose to disregard the law? cause there's no way to justify breaking the law. can enforce / can prove or not is another matter

Apple Store no tax free but Yodabashi and BIC have.

Normally based on my real world experience, the ones who tell others to declare tax are the same ones who quietly go through customs without declaring tax

lol why does it matter though? at the end of the day the person who broke the law is the one that pays. what one says online doesn't matter lol.
