Q on CCNA

I am interested in taking a CCNA course and I have a few questions.
1. I have no experience in networking at all and I am wondering CCNA is the right course and if it's possible to it without any prior knowledge.
2. What are good training center to take the course especially if they offer part time courses.

I recently got certified on CCNA.

CCNA is not that difficult to study but it is good if you have some network background you gain from your work experience.

Simple network background such as knowing the protocols and common port number. How to check for network failure using ping and tracert.

Once you have those, go google for CBT on CCNA which will helps you to get some good training video for study.

One thing to take know. CCNA recently change its module last year. Now it is known as ICND 100-101 & ICND 200-101. Or CCNA 200-120 (Combine of ICND 1 & 2).

So better get the right resource to study if you doing your own.

Everyone has to start somewhere. You can't go wrong with buying the ccent/ccna book and coupled that with cisco packet tracer or GNS3 which is more than sufficient.

It boils down to your current knowledge on networking whether do you gauge yourself as a beginner, intermediate or someone who has the skills but is attempting a certification.

CCNA is not the only network certification and it is really beneficial for you if you can get the fundamentals right first like the OSI layers, TCP/IP, protocols etc. There are other network fundamental certifications like Network+ and CCENT which is catered for people who has zero knowledge but keen on picking up networking in a more gradual pace, if money and time is not an issue.

I would recommend that you attend the training via a training provider than just going through online training aids or books. I do not condone online learning as it too assisted me through when i was taking CCNA exam but after attending my dip classes did i realised i have skipped many important concepts.

Sorry i don have any training centers to recommend but i can only advise that you don't take the bootcamp courses(accelerated courses) as those are really for people experienced in networking but lack the certification to get themselves prep for the exam. I took it the hard way. Just my 2 cents.

CCNABC (boot camp) is for those who already has some basic knowledge or experience on Network. If you are new to Networking, then taking ICND1 and ICND2 will make more sense.
