I am currently using a Corsair HX520. Its very old (think got 6-8 yrs old) and it is rated at 520w.

I understand that PSU degrade over time, but I am currently running an old 4870 on loan from BL and it does work fine even in gaming.

So my qn is will it work for those current mid-range to enthusiast cards? I am talking about GTX760, R9 280x kinda cards.

Thanks in advance.

Yes it should work. But do be careful that once it cannot handle the output power to the demands of the pc it will bloom.

And to power a r9 280x/gtx760 you might wanna get a 600w PSU instead. Cause the total consumption for it could lead to 300w for the card alone. Plus the CPU it should be around 400++ w on load. Might wanna be careful with your current PSU. As 500w is very little head room.

Thanks for your advice bro.

By saying that 400+w are you refering to the +12v ratings? Its combined 54A and 480w.
