qns regarding firepro card

first of all im not sure if this is the rite place for this topic. moderators pls pardon me if i place it in the wrong forum.

okay now back to the topic. if i were to purchase the amd firepro professional card. i know this card is useful for applications like cs6 premier and rendering cad all those. but if i were to play games on it. how will it be affected in terms of performance. comparing with those gaming cards?

Not sure which card you mean, there is more than one AMD FirePro. Are you talking about Windows, OpenGL or Direct3D?
Anyway, they have different drivers than the AMD Radeon cards optimized for compatibility with professional apps, not for speed in games.

First, plz tell us if u ever find any local retailers selling AMD Firepro cards with local warranty. I very interested in finding out.

Second, unless the games u play are done in OpenGL, the Firepro card (as well as Nvidia's Quadro card) can barely churn out playable frame rates for mainstream games that use DirectX. Adobe software like Premiere and Autodesk software like AutoCAD can fully utilise Firepro card well coz they render mostly using the OpenGL library.

To play mainstream games, AMD Radeon cards fare much better than Firepro cards coz Radeon cards are highly optimised for the DirectX library. So get your purposes rite before plunging onto a FirePro card: Radeon is for gaming, Firepro is for heavy rendering on software like AutoCAD and Maya.

P.S. if u wanna noe more abt OpenGL, it is a library for graphic drawings and animations. Try googling and coming out with C++ programs of your own using OpenGL to draw. It's fun!
