Question about baby delivery

My wife is expecting our second child now.



For my first kid we went through the subsidized method. At KKH they placed my wife on the delivery bed and used straps to keep her from moving.



She was plugged into various instruments (to measure the baby heart rate) and also was on a labor inducing drip. We did not opt for the epidural at the beginning, but as the pain became too hard to bear we later asked for it.


My question is this:

Is this the normal method of delivery? Seems like in other countries women are allowed to move about, stretch, relax and get into a comfortable position for delivery. I would preferably like to avoid epidural like anesthetics, as there can be side effects.



Is it possible to have more flexibility of delivery in SG, in particular for subsidized method? TIA for your opinions!

It depends on hospital policy I guess.

Had my first at TMC n they fun allow me to get off the birth.

NUH encourages me to walk & move ard if I can when I had my no2 there.

Smooth delivery to ur wife.
