Waiting for my case to come, wondering any issue if i just put the motherboard on the desk and setup first?
Any potential issue other than water spill ?
Thanks:s12::s12::s12::s12:

EDIT: Best to put on top of your motherboard package. Putting on top of anti-static bag is a big no-no bah.

Laying it bare is quite risky especially when you are using it. Just make sure there is nothing conductive/ magnetic nearby. I don't recommend keeping it out for too long as well due to dust build up.

Bench testing on top of the MB box is common. Don't put it on the anti-static bag.

I bought a mining rack to setup my PC and run it for the first few days as the case was not available right away

Huh? It's perfectly safe, did it for literally over a decade building hundreds of DIY rigs and doing pre-box testing by powering them up on the AS bag.

Yes this is old school way of testing,.. I put systems on the motherboard anti-static bag to test and make sure the system can POST.

And I also handled RAM modules bare hands, doesn't mean we should recommend it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antistatic_bag

Conductive antistatic bags are manufactured with a layer of conductive metal, often aluminum,[3] and a dielectric layer of plastic[2] covered in a static dissipative coating. This forms both a shield and a non-conductive barrier, shielding the contents from static charge via the Faraday cage effect. These bags are preferred for more sensitive parts, but they also see use in environments where sparks would be hazardous, such as oxygen-rich areas in aircraft and hospitals.[4] Metalized bags are more fragile than their nonmetal counterparts, however, as any puncture compromises the integrity of the shield. In addition, they have a limited shelf life, as the metal substrate can deteriorate over time.[6] These bags are often gray or silver owing to the metal layer, while still being transparent to some degree.[3]

Some say can, some say cant, so to play safe, just put on top of MB box will do. So far for me, i dun have issues with putting on top of AS bag for assembly, but not for testing.

Thanks for the chart, so basically looks like only gg if placed on AS bag that has aluminium layer outside. So pretty much safe since PC main boards don’t come in these special AS bags :D
