Can a Will be made such that the testator cannot rescind, amend or replace it with another Will without the consent of the beneficiary?

No. The testator is free to do whatever he wishes in his lifetime, unless he has written a mutual will.

Can not the testator state explicitly in the Will that he will not and cannot change or replace the Will without consent of the benefiiciary?

The testator can state whatever he wishes, including statements that the will is irrevocable. But he retains the power to change the will any time, without anyone's consent, as long as he doesn't loses his mind.

Do we really need a Will in Singapore ?

No need if you are ok with the intestate act. Save your money on drawing up a Will.

With or without a Will, a lawyer will still be required when you pass away. Only question is what is the legal fee with and without a Will.

The survivors/beneficiaries/trustees can also choose to bypass a lawyer's services in obtaining Grant of Probate (with will)/ Letter of Administration (without will), and save around $2k or more. However, this DIY process is tedious.:s22:

Yes the law allows you to DIY. But how many educated persons can? Unless you have worked for a law firm doing such services. It is not like DIY the sale or purchase of a HDB flat which many also can do themselves.

I wanted to DIY but felt daunted and in the end pass it to a lawyer for $1,800.

Will the legal fee be much more without a Will as compared to having a Will ?

But being able to DIY in such cases would indeed be a great personal achievement.
