Hi. I need some help to determine my motherboard RAM compatibility.
My current setup:
CPU: AMD Phenom II 955 Black Edition 3.2Ghz
Motherboard: Gigabyte 880GA-UD3H (rev. 2.0)
RAM: Kingston 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz x 2

URL to Motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.sg/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3425#sp

One of the RAM spoilt. I am thinking changing the ram to 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz x 2.

So my question is does my board support 1600Mhz? As the specification states like this "Support for DDR3 1866(OC)/1333/1066 MHz memory modules"

Meaning only support that 3 spped?

Thanks.

If u pair with 1333 ram , the higher speed ram will auto adjust to ur 1333 speed ram .As long as is ddr3 can work

I thinking of replacing the both 1333 speed. No point pairing it. What I mean is will the board support the 2 new ram at 1600 speed.

Ur motherboard in google show doesnt support 1600. So it might downclock to 1333 .

This is what i saw in giga site :
Memory
4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory (Note 1)
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 1866(OC)/1333/1066 MHz memory modules (Note 2)

Meaning can only support the 3 mentioned speed?
But the 1866 speed there is (OC) beside it. Means must overclock?

then you can downclock in ur mbo.

there is not much differnce between 1333 1600,

I not into over clock or down clock. Just set in the bios setting to downgrade the speed?

That's the thing that i want to make sure. No point spending money to achieve same speed. Although cheap la
normally i just get the cheapest ram, no point seeing speed or what. the price very volatile, sometimes 1600 might be cheaper than 1333 due to wider avaliabity/they produce too much etc.

for ur case, as long as ddr3 can liao
