To be honest, I would have preferred that they keep the old naming convention. Its very silly to rename it RX 90x0 when the first number is already towards the tail end of the 1-9 sequence. So next gen is going to be called RX 10070 for example? And I really don't see why they need to mimic Nvidia.

As long it is cheaper and more performance wise, they can call it monkey or donkey 1234 , I also will buy

If they are still doing 8GB ram on the 8600 (i follow old naming scheme), they will be much less competitive versus the new competition from the B580.
But, i read US$179 perhaps? That will be ok if still 8GB.

I half expect nvidia's 5060 to still be 8GB.
Or, they can do a giant F U and make it 10GB lol.

Doesn't care what name they have. End of day just a name. Performance more important. Name is just a name.
That is if you know what you are getting. That is often not the case for most PC buyers who know nuts about PC hardware. The way they are naming it just seems like they are trying to confuse consumers by blending with competitors' naming convention.

And you think current 7000 name is good? So nVidia have a 4080, i should buy a AMD 7800 to get the same performance as 4080, since both are similar got "8".

AMD name are always confusing since X800 days.

Please do not blame the naming. Blame on yourself for not doing research when buying the card.

AMD have been doing this since Ryzen, surprise it took so long for Radeon team to follow this strategy :ROFLMAO:

Ryzen 3 / 5 / 7 = Intel i3 / i5 / i7
B350 / X370 = B250 / H270 / Z270 boards

AIB don't care. Performance is the key selling point. Not the naming.

Well at least they are changing the names of the GPUs so they don't sound like CPUs any more.
Horrible marketing that they called the GPU 7800XT and the CPU 7800X.
And true to form AMD is adapting their naming sheme to suit Nvidia naming, just like the Ryzen 3 / 5 / 7 are named to follow Intel's i3 / i5 / i7 types.

Also the projected performance is looking quite sad.
People complain a lot that Intel failed badly with their new Aroow Lake-S Processors, here AMD is doing the same thing with their GPUs. Its still the same old thing, maybe a bit more power efficenent and maybe a bit better RT features.
They are raking in money hand over fist with their X3D processors and not investing it into future products. Sad.

Next target resolution after 4K will be 5K.(5120x2880)

With DP2.1 80Gbps-
10bits max for 5K is 165hz.
10Bits max for 4K is 240hz.

Hdmi2.2 going to annouce at coming CES then we can only see product support after 2 years later.

Year 2025/2026 will be DP2.1 UBHR20-80Gbps spec year. This also mean those want max out all resolution, nvidia gpu is the only option unless RDNA 4 can up their dp2.1 ubhr13.5-54Gbps to ubhr20-80Gbps.

Maybe relevant for the 1% of the market who can afford to buy the RTX 5090 that will be required to run the "max out settings" you are referring to. The rest of us who aren't rich will wait to see who can bring in affordable cards that can run 1080/1440p monitors at high refresh rates
