Realme 12 Pro will join its Pro+ sibling in having a Sony camera sensor, revealed the brand. The non-Plus variant will have an IMX882 sensor, while its sibling was already confirmed to pack an IMX890 earlier this week. The phone is also listed on the company website with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset.

The camera sensor is not yet official, and Realme 12 Pro will likely be the first phone with it. However, insiders suggest this a rebranded version of the LYT-600, seen in the Oppo Reno11 5G and the vivo S18e.

The main camera should be to be 50 MP and will “revolutionize” the photography experience, according to a post on X. The Realme 12 Pro was pictured in the Cream Gold version, and we can see from the renders that it will not have a periscope lens; it will have three cameras, aligned misleadingly in a square formation with an empty circle.

The 12 Pro will have 20X zoom (which is different than the overhyped 120X on the Pro+), and we expect this to mean we'll see a 2x telephoto lens with 10x digital zoom. The final details will be known on January 29 at noon IST, when the phones will be announced.

Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ are now official with telephoto lenses – a first for the number series. The duo was announced for the first time in India, and both variants have a luxurious variant developed jointly with Swiss watchmaker Ollivier Saveo.

The 12 Pro brings a classic 2x optical zoom for portraits, while the 12 Pro+ is the first phone by the company to pack a periscope lens in front of the telephoto camera.

Realme 12 Pro

The 12 Pro has a 6.7” OLED panel with curved sides. The screen supports 120 Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and up to 240 Hz touch sampling rate. The chipset is a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, which has a 2.2 GHz CPU and an Adreno 710 GPU.

Realme 12 Pro keeps the 5,000 mAh battery from the 11 Pro, and the cell supports 67W SuperVOOC charging. According to official info, 50% can be reached in 19 minutes, while 48 minutes is all it would take to fill the whole battery.

The 50 MP main camera features OIS and a Sony IMX882 sensor of 1/2” size. The 2x telephoto shooter has a 32 MP Sony IMX709 imager that is 1/2.74” in size.

Finally there's an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, and a 16 MP selfie shooter.

The phone ships with Android 14 and Realme UI 5.0 out of the box. Both color variants feature vegan leather backs (which is still made of plastic), and the blue one might suggest a connection with the famous brand Rolex, there isn't such a partnership. The official names of the options are Submariner Blue and Navigator Beige.

Realme 12 Pro has two memory variants, both with 8 GB RAM. The 128 GB version costs INR25,999 ($310/€290), while the 256 GB option costs INR26,999 ($325/€300). Early access sale begins today at 6 PM IST (12:30 GMT) and comes with a INR2,000 discount ($24/€22).

Realme 12 Pro+

The Plus variant packs the same 6.7” OLED panel with a peak brightness of 950 nits and 5,000 mAh battery with 67W charging, which is technically a downgrade from the 100W rate on the predecessor.

Realme 12 Pro+ comes with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip, though, and it's coupled with 8 GB or 12 GB RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB storage.

Realme 12 Pro duo comes with a telephoto camera, 12 Pro+ adds a periscope lens

The 50 MP main camera on the 12 Pro+ with Sony IMX890 sensor is the same as the Realme GT3 and GT5 but has a larger f/1.8 aperture than its premium siblings.

Then there is the 64 MP periscope telephoto with a 3x optical zoom (71mm equivalent), f/2.6 aperture, OIS, and 1/2" OV64B sensor by OmniVision. The 8 MP ultrawide-angle camera is shared with the regular 12 Pro, while the selfie camera is upgraded to a 32 MP Sony sensor.

This phone also ships with Android 14 and Realme UI 5.0 and comes in Submariner Blue and Navigator Beige. Customers in India will also get an exclusive variant called Explorer Red.

The Realme 12 Pro+ costs INR29,999 ($360/€330 for the 8/128 GB version, INR31,999 ($385/€355) for 8/256 GB, and INR33,999 ($410/€375) for the 12/256 GB option. Early access sale begins today, also at 6 PM IST (12:30 GMT) and the INR2,000 ($22/€24) early bird discount also applies to this one.

Realme doesn't seem to sell their newer models here in Singapore. But it's available over in neighboring Malaysia if you willing to cross the causeway to get it.

Look carefully and it's abit off not just the patently average cpu. DDR4 ram, UFS 2.2 will catch you off guard. But then again same price tier Redmi note 13 Pro also pua this kind of stunt

Really depends on how good the camera software tuning is since the IMX890 is quite capable like we've seen in their GT 5 Pro. God knows whether the engineering team has the will to replicate their efforts here

Managed to hands-on realme 12 pro+ at their service centre. Periscope lens is not bad for the price, but likely if moving subject indoors, will take blurry photos, due to the slow 1/33s shutter speed. It does have manual mode though, so can still try to force a faster shutter speed

Tried it at JB and it's main camera is really good( contending for best under 500 range, comfortably beats RN13P+), zoom lens is also acceptable given it's the OV64B

But if zoom/tele/peri lens isn't a priority, can consider getting their Realme Narzo 70 Pro if it lands on our shore since it has the same imx 890 lens and realme seem to know how to engineer it (realme gt 5 pro also used it to stunningly good effect)
