Hi, I would like to purchase a laptop mostly for Microsoft office use. No gaming or video editing required.

Have shortlisted 2.

If you intend to bring around for work use, then portability will be preferred, so option 1.

If you’re like me who just leaves my personal laptop at home all day, then option 2 will be better given the larger storage space.

Given that the specs & pricing are similar, i will pick the zenbook because:
-lighter, along with better design & quality
-bigger battery capacity
-bigger screen

For ssd, the file size of office documents are v small, so realistically speaking, 512gb is more than enough to store documents and a few seasons of worth of shows. (128gb/256gb already considered sufficient for most)

For thunderbolt 3, its a port (looks like usb type c, but 4x faster than that) that allows higher data transfer speed as compared to usb type c/3, so if you: often transfer files/output >1 4k monitors/use egpu, then theres value in doing so. Else, usb 3 is honestly more than enough for normal office usage.

Overall, the exterior quality of the zenbook triumphs for me. I suggest that you go to your nearest electronics store and physically compare any of the zenbook or ideapad series.

*Also, do consider getting an i5 instead. Both i5 vs i7 have the same amount of cores & threads, albeit slightly different speeds. For office usage, even for heavy excel files, the 10th gen i5 should be more than enough to handle them.

Zenbook design is really nice and light. The salesman also said the cover is made of aluminium rather than the normal plastic.

I tot take i7 would be better so next time I don't have to upgrade?

Hi, thanks for your inputs! I don't really need to bring around. My old laptop lasted me for 10years plus and died. So have to buy a new one to replace it.
