Looking to get a laptop for my girlfriend at Sitex.

Budget is 1.5k

Light to mid-range gaming
Weight should be ~2.5kg
Screen should be at least 15"

Any recommendations? Was actually leaning towards the GE60 until i googled and a ton of peeps said it's sub-par compared to the Y50 (and that model has a really bad screen)

Was wondering if there're other options out there that are worth considering.

Got check out aftershock? might br slightly abv ur budget (XS-15-V3) but so far people have good words on their after service (e.g help re-paste thermal paste and fan clean up) and compare of spec of the laptop they are slightly cheaper.

Don't think will go beyond the budget, 1.5k is already stretching it..

i think u shld probably define what is light to mid gaming.

u can probably look at asus x550jk ($1398), gigabyte p15f ($1498) with 128gb SSD, or aftershock M-15 recommended config ($1424)/with SSD $1500+.

but for gals, will always recommend sth lighter. u can try msi ge40 ($1499) its 14" but its 1.9kg.

actually, really have to depend on what games ur gf plays. if its light gaming like fb games or maple, u will be open up to cheaper options

i will pick the gigabyte p15f though. for the budget of 1.5k, it comes with 128gb SSD which is pretty rare. just note that all the gaming laptops within this budget region can only play watchdog at low-med settings.

anw if u can manage ur storage well, u can install one or two games in ur SSD to boost the gaming spd.

note that theres a limited stock to gigabyte p15f. so if its oos, then go for aftershock m-15, their customer services said to be damn gd. recommend to pop in a SSD if u can too.

my personal opinion la.

there's the Aftershock XG15 also, it's GDDR5, would that not be a wiser choice? $200 more though

ya p15f is actually the best choice. i dont think you can find a better offer with these kind of specs. 1499 for it with ssd. good price. from what i last saw they still have stocks
