Anyone know of a reliable hard drive data recovery service?

Ok, I do not have the screenshot of the disk management now because I did not have it with me now.

previously when i was booting up the PC, this shown up
short%20self%20test.jpg

then i went into bios and did a test and here was the result. and it seem to have an issue with the hdd

it was after this that i plugged it from the original pc and attempt to test it externally on another pc. while i can see the drive, i can't access it.

edit: updated with the screenshot.

initially i though it was a bcd problem, so i even attempted to do a bcd repair via a bootable windows image, but i wasn't even able to start go to the screen to start the repair.

yeah from the 2nd image, it looks like a failing one especially when i can hear the "clicking sound" clearly. that why i don't want to deal further damage to it.

But still u must try to get back as many data as possible in order not to approach those HDD recover service and pay a hefty sums.

Anyway have u use that Linux OS to try and see if it can reads your drive?

well i dun think so, but im out of ideas since u can connect but cant read. and most possible cause of it is that ur MBR is corrupted along in the process.

perhaps so.

but i won't mind paying for recovery. there are times when the data matter more than the money.

Can try the following

Kroll Ontrack for its worldwide largest data recovery network and high professional standards.

CBL Technologies for its free evaluation and medium size local sme and free evaluation

Accplus Technologies for its small outfit, low price and personal service.

All these three have the ability with experienced staff, clean room facilty and professional tools to handle your case.

thanks for the recommendation.

eventually I went to Accplus because after calling multiple companies, Accplus is the only one that is able to give me a satisfactory answer to my various queries.

When I went down to their office, he did a preliminary evaluation on the hard disk immediately. And since I had some technical background, he explained to me what the potential issue is and the solution to it.

By evening, he completed a proper evaluation and updated me on the status. Thanks goodness, it is just the firmware that is dead. With that, he went on to clone the data onto another hdd.

All this is completed within two days which is considered very fast as other vendors had quoted that they need at least a week to do it.

lastly he is very friendly and even advised me on a more efficient way of doing backup for data.
