Recommendation for low profile CPU coolers

currently using a Cooler Master Elite 120 case with stock intel haswell cooler.
looking to change to an aftermark cooler for the audible noise and lower temps when gaming. on a i7 4771

using a standard ATX sized PSU and a MSI 7850 GPU. n using both ram slots w my ripjawX
any recommendation for a cooler which fits? heard that some coolers interfere laterally although it meets the clearance height of 65mm

anyone using the same case? what cooler are u using?
currently looking at the Noctua NH-L9i... im quite sure it'd fit?

on a side note, any software to recommend that can observe CPU temp while running games? ie full screen

No need. There is total 2 x120mm slots for you to mount it. Just need to find a thin rad type.

so u mounted the radiator and the fan separately?
aren't they supposed to be like tgt?

Nowadays several mITX chassis offers enough clearance for 120mm AIO WC mounting.

There is 1 way to mount it.

Look carefully and visualize. The 3.5inch HDD got to put at the 5.25inch bay.

That leaves the space in the middle with no HDD in it. Using only rubber screws you mount a thin rad just behind the HDD cage. Then mount the 120mm fan on the other side. Although the middle section will block a small amount of airflow to the rad. There is still good amount of airflow. And getting good temps on cpu alone. But that was last time non oc 3470.

I have built a system with a CM 120 elite last time, bought a Arctic cooling freezer 11 LP for $20 from PowerGamers.
It's cheap and quiet, but even with a G2120 (or G2020, can't remember), the idle temps are around 35-40 mark, which is quite bad. Can't imagine what the temps will be like for a much more powerful CPU.
Oh and, depending on the motherboard, the fan shroud on this particular cooler will slightly hit the GPU's PCB, nothing much to worry about though.
120mm AIO is probably the best way to go IMO.

If im not wrong MSI afterburner can display an overlay in-game. Though it doesn't support in game display, the HWmonitor records min/max temp.

cant really visualize. lol. eyeing the 120m now. but i think i'd just try upgrading to elite 130 altogether

60 bucks is rather expensive for that.

About the same price as the noctua low profile, but made of 100% copper. Copper worth more $$, higher resale value to recyclers next time.
