recommendation for new rig

intending to get everything for rig from SLS.

budget: below 1.5k hopefully hitting around 1.3k.
mainly will be used for light gaming and work. does not have to run on high detail, looking at normal settings at 1080.
last i bought a rig was 2 and a half years ago so not too sure which are the newer series now days..


display: dell 23" budget series, SE2417H - around 180sgd? - open to lazada and shipping, ooohh saw on q10 for 125sgd.

mobo: to pair with cpu
CPU: i5 -6600? or whats the latest that fits the budget on the market
RAM: 8gb / 16gb kington value rams
PSU: 550W - need recommendation
GPU: 1060 - need recommendation on model and gb
casing: something small cheap and non-fancy.
storage: 120/240GB SSD and 1TB hdd - both need brand and recommendation

OS: will be buying online

hoping the rig alone will be around 1.1k while the monitor will be 200sgd adding to a total of 1.3k all in all.

Whoa why 6th gen CPU? Now already Coffee Lake 8th Gen lol.

Define Light Gaming.
DotA 2 1080p @ normal can be run without a Dedicated GFX with Ryzen 2400G.
But
Final Fantasy XV, 1080p @ normal can't even be run without a 1060 minimum.
Even Overwatch can be played at 1080p @ high with Ryzen 2400g only.

If you're not into those heavy gaming like Final Fantasy VX, but rather simple games like DotA 2, Overwatch.
A simple Ryzen 2400G will suffice.

And you can choose not to purchase the 1060, saving yourself $359
And switch mobo+CPU to something like:
GIGABYTE GA AB350M-DS3H + Ryzen 2400G: $352, saving $48
OR
GIGABYTE GA AB350M-GAMING 3 + Ryzen 2400G: $387, saving $13.

Then use the savings to upgrade your ram, to something like

Pay extra $177

So you'll save like $372 to $407, and spend another $177.
Total Savings: $199 - $230

Heck, still can use the savings to get extra things like:
Upgrade PSU to SEASONIC M12II-MODULAR 620W for better Cable Management: Extra $16
Or even get a CPU Cooler like CRYORIG M9A HEATSINK COOLER for $39

Possible, but means you drop your CPU to G5400, save $238.
And drop your PSU to a shitty FSP HYPER K 500W 80+ or FSP HYPER K 600W 80+ (5Yrs)
500W = save another $46
600W = save $36

SSD drop to PATRIOT BURST-SERIES 120GB 2.5" SSD, save $60
(Sadly you just missed the CRUCIAL MX-500 SERIES 250GB for $88 promotion)

So assuming you go for the most budget, you'll save 344,
bringing the total to $1036~?

But I don't see the point in going to such extreme to save the money.
For eg PSU, some people say no point get such a good quality CPU, what you want is just to powerup your system. But if the PSU fails, ur whole comp might get fried together, and in the end cost you more. I've gotten cheap PSU before la, so far never kena fried. But well, it's like insurance. You won't think you'll need it until something happens.

This game alone means is no longer light gaming due to how badly optimized the game is.

And considering current gpu pricing, the cheapest 1060 3gb is around 359 and the 6gb around 429. 16 gb rams at least 250. That's more then half your budget gone and we have not even considered your cpu + Mobo.

Then i recommend Ryzen build.

2400G with (2x 4GB) 2666MHz rams. Or even (2x 8GB) 3000 or 3200MHz rams.

2x 4GB 2666MHz rams are like: $159
2x 8GB 3000MHz rams are like: $289 [CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX]
2x 8GB 3200MHz rams are like: $315 [CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX]

Dual Channel rams are better for Ryzen system.
Sadly I can't find any 2x 4GB 3200MHz rams. So it's either 2x 4GB 2666MHz or 2x 8GB 3000/3200MHz rams

GPU prices abit expensive right now, but that 2400G CPU is good enough for you to play your Overwatch @ 1080p normal at 60+ FPS.

Or can just drop ur Pubg to 720P and play. or 1080P (70%) Low.

If GPU prices ever drops, then you can just easily buy a GPU and play lor.

(And please make sure that the mobo bios is updated for Ryzen 2400G)

if you really want save additional money. Non-Modular PSU though, means you really got to hide all the extra cables (waste space) to make your casing look nicer.

Ram, 8GB of ram @ 2666MHz is definitely enough. Just close some FireFox when you're going to some more intensive games. (Eg close your browser if you're going to hoot Pubg @ 1080p (70%) low.)

That dude using 2400MHz, so you can expect slightly better results than that. (Probably just a few DPS difference)

Honestly if you don't care much about Local Warranty, can just buy a (2x 4GB) 3000MHz ram from Amazon.

if you change your mobo to:
GIGABYTE GA AB350N-GAMING WIFI + Ryzen 2400G, that's $427. That's extra $40-$75 for your WiFi depending on which motherboard u chose.

The gigabyte wifi mobo has supposedly SLIGHTLY better specs tahn the ASUS PCE-N15 WiFi Card. But heh, you might be able to get better deals for WiFi card on Lazada or Qoo10. So, really up to you.
Or you can just get a LAN Cable for wayyyyyy faster speed and wayyyyy lower price.

In that case, then yes I think it's a good buy for $109.

Leadex and leadex ii not much difference. Just that ii is smaller physically. Previously there was EVGA g3 gold 550 @ 109.99 warranty 7 yrs which is a better buy compared to leadex 5 yrs warranty. Sadly oos now.

Seasonic S12II/M12II are both Tier4 PSU. Not too great, but not the worse.
Last time the FSP Hexa was Tier 7 lol, and many ppl still get that crap cause it's damn cheap (FSP Hyper K series is just a slight upgrade from the series).
If you can't find the Superflower Leadex 550W, and your budget is tight, honestly Seasonic S12II or M12II is still decent.
