Recommendation for wireless usb adapter

Situation: desktop currently wired to modem. Laptop on wifi. Laptop has better signal compared to desktop. Did a simole test by loading 1080p video on youtube. Laptop was smooth with virtually no lag. Desktop loads the vidoe at a snail speed. Even w downloading of softwares, the desktop is doing it slower compared to laptop.

I am on SH Cable BB 100. I am able to achieve 80-90mbps every single time on both desktop and laptop. Its just that desktop does not reflect tht speed. But when it comes to gaming, its smooth w zero lag.

So I thought get a wireless usb adapter to try it out. Not able to fix a pci adapter as there is virtually no space as u can see from the picture.

The reason i posted here is bcos there is no respond over at the networking side..and i will need recommendations. And one thing i forgot to add is that, laptop got no problem connecting to vpn n access websites. Only desktop has problems. From netflix to mda blocked sites...

You photo clearly shows an pcie 1x slot that you can use with a pcie 1x wireless card.

If wireless is fast and yet cable is slow, something is not right with your setup. Cable is usually faster than wireless. Maybe you want to investigate your Ethernet adapter like, did you install the correct driver or have you updated to the latest driver or you have messed up some network settings for your windows Ethernet settings or whether your network cable is damaged...else there's no reason wireless is faster than cable.

3. VPN does slows down network speed. Try disable VPN and see if your Ethernet speed is back to normal.

1. I am unsure if the is enough space. If i slot it in, it will block the fan of the gpu..

2. The ethernet adapter driver is already updated to latest version.. For the settings, its normal default settings. I just plug in yhe cable and let it auto config..

still can actually, and wifi card can be so small it won't really block the GPU fan

Ended up buying an external wireless adapter. The PCI adapter I was looking at will not fit totally no space for it.

U know what? No more issues connecting to VPN. Downloads and youtube became normal again...
