Recommendation needed for new rig

Hi guys, so long story short.. My pc keep hanging like forever after repeated power off/on. Able to boot up to desktop screen but remain hang afterwards. Problem persisted for past this week.

Planning to get new rig instead from SLS, reusing GPU, HDD & SSD(If it's not corrupted)

Mainly usuage would be running nox player (Lineage2), net surfing, watching animes and live streaming videos. Budget of 1k, please recommend the suitable parts.. No need for fancy RGB.. Thank you!!

Was told by my friend that either RAM, HDD or SSD problem. Tried using those hard eraser to wipe the ram stick's plate also no use. Anyway this not my first problem with this rig, first was power button faulty then gpu. Both replaced now this new problem .. pekcek liao.. going 4years liao this rig

I don't think you need a discrete GPU for these use cases. You could get a rig for less than 1k.

But in any case are you planning on perhaps downsizing your machine? Could be a good time to go for an ITX sized machine as the usage is rather non intensive.

ITX casing looks rather small to me..

EVGA $150 PSU is OVERKILL

For the specs of the rig, just get any PSU <$100 Even the $49 / $59 / $69 / $79 can already.

It is like telling the threadstarter to hoot 64gb DDR4-4000 Ram just to play CSGO / DOTA2.

Also, 2x4gb Ram

Yes, that is the purpose. Then you can free space up for other stuff.

I highly recommend this route if your requirements are not high

The design ABSOLUTELY requires water cooling for the CPU. Otherwise heat gets trapped at the top section with any CPU air cooler.

Before you regret, just to inform you 8th gen Core i3 is NOW 4C4T. Meaning it is identical to your 7th gen Core i5s. Core i3-8100 = Core i5-7500. While there are only Z370 motherboards available for these 8th gen Core CPUs and there is a price premium to these high quality Z chipset boards over lower end B/H boards, the naturally (substantial) lower cost of Core i3-8100 CPU has made its bundle combo cost equivalent or cheaper than the older Core i5-7500 + lower end H110/B150/B250 boards combo. For my friend, i got him Core i3-8100 + ASRock Z370M Pro4 @ just $333 (after using coupon discount on online shopping platforms). Even cheaper than what shopfronts are offering.

And for PSU, EVGA GD 550W [80 Plus Gold] @ $109 is best enough for your kind of usage.G3 that costs 50% more wouldn't reap you any substantial benefit over GD series.

With the introduction of Ryzen & Coffee Lake, the Kabylake line makes zero sense. As Moneyface pointed out, the CL i3 is 4C4T and pricing is good

For higher than that like say 6C12T, Ryzen 5 1600 is the go-to
