Recommendation on Gaming Rig

Greetings experts!

A bro of mine would like to get a new gaming rig and ask for my help. I have read through quite a few threads suggested by experts in this forum and gathered the info below. Would like to trouble you guys to help me see if it is ok~


CPU + MB: i5 6500 + MSI B150M BAZOKA @ $428
SSD: Reusing old SSD
HDD: Reusing old HDD
GPU: SAPPHIRE RX 480 8GB or PALIT GTX 970 4GB @ ~$388
PSU: SF LEADEX 550W Silver @ $119
RAM: KINSTON 2133 CL 15 8GB @ $50
CASE: FRACTAL DESIGN CORE 1500 89

Total: $1074 (PC THEMES)

- Rig is use for gaming and watching video.
- Will rx 480 be a better choice or gtx 970?
- Bro would prefer a smaller case. Any better recommendation for the case that fits the same spec?

RX 480 for 8gb. But you might want to wait for the gtx 1060 to be in the markets.

Thanks for the quick reply bro~ His com just died hours ago and he need a new one. Just checked with him, he will be reusing his SSD and HDD. Will edit accordingly.

may i know if there is any monitor requirement by him? like need to play on bigger screen and high refresh rates? if no can get RX 480, if yes can consider wait for GTX 1060

beside that SSD i rather u get a zotac T500 240GB which cost around 80+ from lazada.

lastly how small are u looking at?

No monitor requirement by him but he quite frequently connect it to TV for movies.

Wait till 19 July for GTX 1060. At least got something you can compare before committing...
