Recommendation on PC upgrade!

Hi experts and bros here, It's been awhile since I've built my last system. Probably used for around 4 years already.
Still on 1st gen Ryzen 5 processor, 1600x, thinking of upgrading my system. Any suggestion on whether to go aftershock or still better to DIY? Budger around 2-3k, flexible.

I use it mainly for normal usage, web surfing, youtube, netflix normal usage but I play dota 2 @ 144hz, my current setup, I have to lower my resolution if not big fights really will be laggy, I'm using GTX 1060 6GB at the moment.

well it depends. what workloads are u using ur pc for? both 3600 and 5600x are quite similar in multicore performance and comparable for 1440p and 4k gaming, so only go for the 5600x if going for low res high refresh rate gaming and applications where single core performance is key.

id say the 5960x is only on par with the 2600, so not only will the 3600 be faster for most applications but be more power efficient as well. furthermore, the 5960x is on a really old platform so only go for it if ur already on x99.

Hi bro, 1440p @ 144hz for the moment, but problem is the graphic card right? Heard that there's really shortage of card and ppl are selling for exorbitant pricing, even at sls shop.

If DIY, I think first thing you need to check is whether you can get the gpu you want at a lower/close price, compared to what Aftershock is charging. The GPU situation is improving but for a while, going with Aftershock was one of few reliable ways to get a nv3000 series or amd 6000 series GPU at non-scalped prices.

I would recommend Taobao, a lot of cards going for really good prices there. But it depends on whether you're comfortable with it. Anything happens to the card, warranty is prob you gotta ship it back to China

Haven't checked their prices (and also not caught up with the pricing situation in SLS) in a while. But this was true about ~2 months back when I was helping a friend to choose a system.

I feel the prices are still quite high over at Aftershock. They have gradually been increasing their pricing over the last few months, though it is still cheaper than buying GPU from scalpers.

doubt it. though definitely cheaper than local and some shops on taobao dont bundle parts, they are still at what i consider to be scalped prices. the cheapest 30 series gpu is the 3060 at $900 with shipping, and even then is some random china brand, while the cheapest 6700xt costs $1.1-1.2 with shipping (reference design), both still quite a bit more than what they should cost. no gpu from taobao has been worth buying since the start of the year, other than the r9 290 at about $200.
