Hi all,

In order to get visible lats and the V-taper look, is eating more + as much pull-ups as possible = success?

I don't really want the rest of my body to look like a bodybuilder, just my upper body to look bigger to get the look.

don't forget about the delts man. I don't see why you have to eat more unless you can't get gains. keep training them

Good luck.

Not everyone can achieve those results with just the exercises you described. And those who can, would be(or already are) aiming much higher than what you mentioned.

Doesnt mean you cant try though, you'll definitely get better at doing pullups, but the physical results may vary.

I don't know what you are trying to say & I think neither do you. Even if you intend to walk around with your lats flared up all the time, you still won't look big because you will have no chest, shoulders and arms.

And if you intend to do as many pull ups as you can like people doing hundreds of push ups & sit ups, you will stagnate real quick & wont progress. You need to train pull ups like any other body part in bodybuilding.

yea. to achieve the v shape, not only need to work on the back, you need to work on the shoulders too. don't think pull ups alone is sufficient. you might even suffer from muscle imbalance. strong back, weak chest/shoulders.

Huh???
You think it's that easy to look like a bodybuilder??
Pull-ups alone will not get you the v-taper look.

Seems to me like your bone structure is shaped like a rod or pear, so you just want to look more V shape. Well, unfortunately, if your shoulder are narrow relative to your pelvis, there is no way to fix that. getting buffed and lean will improve your physique, but it cannot magically narrow your pelvis or widen your shoulders beyond a certain point that is limited by what bone structure you have.

Tks for the insight, guys! Yes, when I say v-taper, I actually mean not just lats (although it's a very big factor), but also shoulders.

Yes, accurate. My body is rod-shape / chopstick shape, pelvis is wider than shoulder like a girl but not that extreme.

Since I can't narrow the pelvis, I can at least widen the lats, chest, upper arms and shoulders as much as I can to somehow offset it?

Not saying pulling isn't important. But...

I would argue that shoulder width contributes to the look more than back width. Having a wide back does nothing to widen the uppermost part of the "V". It's the shoulders that give that look.

If you just keep doing pull-ups, you might end up with decent biceps and wide/thick back, but it's not going to help much in getting you that V shape you're after.

Do your vertical presses and lateral raises.
