I wonder whether there will be a permanent decrease in demand for office space once companies and employees figure out that many fewer of them can still get their jobs done from practically anywhere and without wasting time on commuting. And Singapore does a lot of remote work for the world and the region. If more work is done remotely, do employees in Singapore specifically need to be the ones doing it? This is a rather high cost locale, after all.

Singapore had been the "hotel" for employees sourced from all the world. Now, if it's possible for employees to work remotely, there's no need to put them in Singapore. They can work remotely in their home countries and travel to HQ for teamwork training once or twice a year.

It is not like this was not known earlier. This could have been done earlier also. It is already done in many companies, where the offshore team is in India and it is a mix of offshore and onshore.

We have already have had crisis before in 2008 GFC and 2012 European crisis and most banks have already trimmed the fat as much as they could. So I don't see any more low hanging fruits that can be moved offshore.
