Hi my audioengine speaker has become so low volume that its soft, anyone knows where can i repair it? I called Tai cheong at sim lim tower they say it might be the amp problem and they don't do it.

Is there anywhere else i can repair? Thanks for help!

From google i saw technofied and altronics, anyone got experience with them?

Lol, I had a thread on converting this thing to passive speakers like... 6 years ago. Yours survived long.

Yea this symptom is likely an amp problem. Although reports of bad volume pot also exist. Both result in low volume on one side but the symptoms are different.

Price of TDA7294 is cheaper than what I used to remember so might be worth repairing now.

A second-hand A5 is worth at most $300 or maybe less...

Nice speaker. Should try to repair. If still has little sound, try to check if just power supply issue. Think not difficult to open up.

Does that change while turning the volume?

Let me know if you need replacement pots. Bought a few spares years ago, and I have spares.

Here's the plot twist:

A faulty amp can also be soft and volume also changes while turning the volume.

Think of what would normally have been the feedback loop if the amp isn't spoilt.

I don't think is the pot, i still can adjust the volume, though from low volume to very low volume to no sound. I believe its the amp.

Advice to everyone else, it is BEST to buy a passive speaker and a separate amp for your PC.

For one, all-in-one solutions like this means you will have to throw the entire speaker out if the amp or the speaker spoils.
Whereas separating the 2, chances of a passive speaker spoiling is way lower as there are not many components inside the speaker that can fail unlike the first method.
And as for the amp spoiling, I have a few amps. None has failed yet over the years. Even if spoil, you just need to buy an amp and not a whole new set of Active speakers like the first.

Something to think about.
