Just survived my first earthquake experience by sleeping through it. Mag 3-4 in Osaka... South Kobe had it worst at 6.3...

Oh my god, i had the same experience, except i was rocked out of bed. I thought it was a dream!

And amusingly, later on, while going to my destination I passed by Awaji THEN, while at the station, realised it was the epicenter. The japanese ppl there were quite nonchalant though, mostly just calling to inform ppl they will be late. And I was late too...on the way to Whisky tour at Suntory. However, they arranged an extra tour because they expected people to be late due to the quake. Those japanese really service-to-the-max even in the face of potential disaster.

Hi all, we're going to Tokyo next month (21-26 May). What's the general weather like during that time? Bringing our twins there so just wanting to prepare in advance...

Guess we are comrades in disaster then. Which part were you in for the quake to rock you off bed? Kobe?

The aftermath was damn sian for me cause all trains to Kyoto from Himeji stopped following the usual time table. I got on the train at shin osaka at 2.20pm expecting to reach kyoto at 3pm latest max. Halfway through they hold my train at the mid way station for more than 1/2 an hr and convert it to a normal line when it was supposed to be a limited express line due to lack of trains running in expectation of further minor quakes. Ended up reaching Kyoto at 4.20pm... Day sakura viewing became night viewing... My schedule for that day was totally messed up...

Guess the Japaneses are used to all these as they just resigned themselves and just sat there till the train starts moving while those rushing for time got out of the train to find other mode of transport. No one made any noise... Lol

I was in Osaka, near Tsutenkaku. Ya, i guess if you were going long distance it must have been damn annoying. But there is a disaster so can also take the chance to appreciate being alive? A feeling that u will never get to experience in SG, where it is so safe that we become complacent and impatient. :)

I think you may need to go further out. Last I saw, most of the sakura trees in central part of Tokyo close shop liao.

I see... I was in ShinOsaka when it happened. I'm more vexed by the fact that all these inconveniences happened right after my birthday :s13: than Japan's service recovery processes.

I was in Osaka when the earthquake of April 13 struck. Slept soundly through the entire night...didn't know that an earthquake had struck until I checked my phone early in the morning..and tis is what I saw on my phone...
