Hi guys, I'm considering to build a gaming rig for myself. Planning to get next weekend!

I'm now using my Alienware m15x but I want to decommission it for HTPC usage once I get my hands on a new desktop..

I got this after sneaking around some threads and of course, the sticky:

Intel Core i5-4670K & ASUS Z87 Deluxe ~ ?
Gskills Ripjaws 1600mhz 2 x 4GB kit ~ $95
MSI GTX780 Twin Frozr 3GB + Seasonic M12ii 750W 80+ ~ $1018
Plextor M5 Pro 256GB ~ ?
Asus PCE-N53 WL-600N PCI-E ~ ?
ODD ~ ?
Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl/Titanium Grey - $159

1. Mouse, keyboard, monitor, extra HDD, no need.

2. I plan to OC, SLI (overkill?), and probably do some CPU/GPU water-cooling in the near future :s22:

3. My aim is to play most games at the highest settings @ 1080p.

4. Budget: $2k (I reckon the parts above would reach about $2.1+k, but ok lah can burst abit)

5. Do you think I can get a small discount like 2% if I pay up by cash?

6. Do you think the CPU will bottleneck 2 SLI GPU? How about power wise :s22: Maybe I'm abit over-ambitious but I'm open to suggestions..

Thanks in advance guys!

No it will not bottleneck the GPU. And to game on just 1080p you don't need to go sli. Just a single Gtx760 or gtx770 will do just fine. Save up on Asus mobo, they aren't cheap.

What else do you need? Kb? Mouse? Monitor? Os? WiFi?

i5-4670K + MSI Z87-G45
Thermaltake 3.0 Pro/Extreme, Swiftech H220, NZXT kraken X60 [all these are cheaper than the H100i and perform on par with it, +/- 10% diff...., i quoted for you all are 240/280mm rad.]
Any 1600mhz 2x4GB sticks
Gigabyte gtx 770 2gb
Plextor M5P 128GB SSD
Seasonic m12ii 650w
Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl/Titanium Grey

No need ODD, use thumbdrive to install OS. Check with mynextcom website, should fall below 2k.

When I checked mynextcom, the H100i seems to be cheaper than a few others you suggested :s22: I guess I'll stick to that.

Im contemplating to get a Benq 120hz monitor (kena poisoned while browsing around) so if I want to game at relatively high or ultra/max settings at about 120 fps, would the gtx 780 OC edition be better or a gtx 770 sli be a better choice if I use 1 120hz monitor? Budget aside of course, I just wanna see what options I can explore first.

If gt no budget, can go for 780 and sli in future.... if gt budget, 770 and sli in future is good... nt easy to maintain 120fps wif high end games
