Hmm, my theory is that this reading or level is actually erroneous.. hence running an app will deplete it very quickly - showing it is erroneous!

It’s possibly some form of calibration error where the phone reads parameters from the battery differently

If you have used that phone for quite some time (e.g 2 years ), it's normal for the battery reading to be off. This is because battery capacity drops over time.

For example, sometimes my phone stops charging at 70%, but after resitting, it increases back to 90%. My battery is probably 70% of what it used to be

Can't be helped. Old battery can't hold charge well.
