Review for Convergent

Had a Corsair HX650 replaced with a RM650 at Convergent today.
According to them, HX series is currently EOL and thus they cannot replace mine with the same model.
Corsair website seems to suggest otherwise as both series are still shown there with price included. Furthermore, RM series appears to be a entire different series rather than an equivalent.
Obviously dissatisfied, I suggested to pay for the top up for a RM850 rather than to get the RM650; but Convergent insisted the RM650 is the model given by Corsair as a replacement for HX650 and would not budge in anyway. When I asked for the official Corsair statement, they asked me to contact Corsair and provide them with my receipt. @#$&!

Me: Can I top up for the RM850 instead? Even RM750 is cheaper than my HX650.
Convergent: You cannot compare with the price you paid. It is no longer worth that much.
Me: But I am using the price listed on the Corsair website currently.
Convergent: The information there is inaccurate. HX is EOL.
Me: Aren't you supposed to give me a equivalent model? RM is clearly a lower end series.
Convergent: That is what Corsair gave us as a replacement for HX series.
Me: Is there an official statement by Corsair anywhere?
Convergent: You can email them and provide them with your receipt.

Since I no longer have the receipt, I had to settle with the RM650. But Convergent you get to have one star from me!

Rm IS A replacement model for HX.

And fyi it is of the same grade with fully modular cables.

Consider it good that they can replace you with the RM series instead of the HX

AX > HX > RM.

Yeah, well I mean lower. With a 7 year warranty I might just end up with the lowest if I am that lucky.

Anyway Convergent called me up to had it replace again with the RM850 with a slight top up. So issue is resolved here.

ok la you used your hx for so many years alr it paid off for itself. sometimes you get an upgrade sometimes not really but this is already a goodwill thing

Ok. May be i did not make myself clear why RM series is a replacement for HX series.

When RM series launched, the sucessor of the HX series was discountinued. There is a reason why convergent gave you the RM series instead. Cause there is no direct replacement of the same psu for HX. They discountinued TX bronze model and HX model in all. Leaving only CX, GS, RM and AX series. Leaving hx consumer with no choice but to receive RM series IF the HX users are facing issues. Although yes they may not give you a AX series. That pretty much difficult for them to give you a HX type cause they simply do not have any model equivalent.

And as of now ONLY RM series is gold standards.

I think its not right to ask a customer to contact the other party(corsair) himself?

Its the same scenerio i encountered last time.

when i preordered my corsair 900d it was delayed for a quite weeks. Shop promised to give 2 extra corsair fan for the trouble. When i collected it ,shop say convergent didnt provide him the fan and asked me to contact convergent myself. Although i can wait for shop to do the whole "get the fan for me " thing or accept other similar value replacement.

And people wonder why most of us turned to amazon.

Anyway glad u managed to get a replacement of your choice.
