Hi there need some help guys!

My current set up is 3 years old and with Dragon Age Inquisition's impending release I'm looking for an upgrade.

I already have a Dell 2713HM which has a native resolution of 2560 x 1440 and it is really causing quite a strain on my aging Geforce GTX 580 when I run games.

Please help me out with a build for 1440p gaming, preferably below $2000. Thanks!

Current setup (someone had help me set it up):
i7 2600k gigabyte z68xp ud3
gskill 8gb ddr3 1600 cl9
asus gtx 580 1.5gb
adata 510 series 120gb ssd
fsp aurum gold 750w modular
coolermaster 690 ii advanced usb 3.0 chassis
scythe gentle typhoon 12cm fan
coolermaster hyper 212 EVO cpu cooler

Also have HDD for storage.

Do you think I can cannibalize some of those stuff? Also want a new larger SSD.

You do not need a new rig, what you need at most is a GTX 970 for $500+ and a Crucial MX100 256GB SSD for $162 and install these parts into the old rig. If one GTX 970 is not enough, can always get another GTX 970 and set up an SLI configuration with 2X GTX 970 since your old motherboard supports SLI anyway.

Yup

Msi gtx970 gaming ~ $575
Crucial mx100 256gb ssd ~ $155

Good to go, maybe another 8gb ram as well will be decent

Wow really? that makes things simpler.

Sorry I am not too hardware/tech savvy but would the CPU being relatively old cause any bottle necking?

Ur i7-2600k still a very strong chip currently, and upgrading to latest i7 or i5 doesn't boost any significant improvement on gaming

Did you OC your i7, by any chance? You will only get bottlenecks if running something like a Pentium with a GTX 970.
