Dismembered body parts of murdered Chinese socialite found cooked, others stored in refrigerator, deceased married to the son of founder of Tamjai International
Abby Choi Tin-Fung, a 28-year-old Chinese socialite and influencer residing in Hong Kong, has been found dead. Known for her frequent appearances at fashion events and as a cover model for various fashion magazines, Choi was a prominent figure in Hong Kong’s social scene and had associated with numerous celebrities. She often attended fashion shows in Europe and was a regular indulger in expensive designer bags and couture dresses from luxury brands such as Hermes, Chanel, and Valentino. Although Choi frequently posted pictures of herself on her Instagram account, she never shared any pictures of her husband.Choi’s influence in the fashion industry was recognised when she graced the cover of French fashion magazine L’Officiel Monaco, which hailed her as a fashion icon and trendsetter with a global following. However, today the police discovered Choi’s dismembered body in Lung Mei Village, Tai Po. In the aftermath of the discovery, the authorities arrested three individuals, including the family of Choi’s ex-husband, on suspicion of their involvement in her murder.
Law enforcement officials have apprehended three suspects on suspicion of murder, namely the parents and elder brother of Choi’s ex-husband. Some of Choi’s dismembered body parts were found cooked, while others were stored in a refrigerator. It has come to light that Choi was previously married and had two children before marrying her current husband, who is the son of the founder of Tamjai International, a popular restaurant chain operator in Hong Kong with 156 outlets across the city and mainland China, Singapore, Australia, and Japan. The company has recently launched a HK$1.4 billion (US$180 million) initiative to expand its restaurant network in these regions.
Although Choi had been providing financial support to her ex-husband and his family members, some of his relatives were allegedly extorting money from her. It is suspected that the motive behind her murder was linked to monetary disputes. According to a neighbour, she overheard a heated argument between a young woman and a man at approximately 10 PM on Wednesday night, but could not discern the content due to the loud noise.
