I agree with all of what you have written. Let's put it in the way I would advise, buy the RTX3080 now and buy the next x080 card next year which will be more powerful than the RTX 3090 anyway.

Overall, it'll cost the same and maybe. Just maybe you can get an 8k monitor or TV next year

It's definitely not 8K worthy.
Anyway, the next GPU generation should be in 2022. Not next year. Each gen is roughly 2 years.

Flagships yes. But mainstreams will probably get a refresh with the super moniker 1 year down the road, possibly within 6 months if Big Navi really turns out to be extremely competent.

I would like to see how anyone can play their games at 8k at the moment. Even Linus didn't have a solution to do that and was shipped a TV for it.

8K gaming is not for everyone. In my opinion, 8K will likely stay on a big screen, i.e. 60+ inch and above TV, and less likely to show up as monitors for now. And not everyone will game on a massive TV. At this point, it is just pure marketing. At that resolution, even the RTX 3090 will falter badly with RT on since Nvidia is also hard selling RT.

Put the PC near your window. And point a fan to blow the exhaust of the PC's fans out of the window instead of at yourself.

I already figured this would happen about 10 years ago. Those solutions where the PC is placed below the desk are no longer feasible as you will roast your legs.

Instead of putting it beside the window, I think one can get those portable aircon flexible tube to vent the hot air out the window.

Roasting of legs, not that bad. The heat will be dispersed in the room, and pretty sure it will be sauna with no airconditioner.

Big Navi will actually have a chance here.... 15% at 100% more money means that for most part, it will be the rtx 3080/3070 vs Whatever Radeon 6000 series in the market.

After all, the rumors point to Big Navi being competitive with the RTX 3080.

As long as Big Navi is not another Vega very good liao, don't expect AMD to best Nvidia.

If AMD decides to compete, surely it will beat the 3080 (but not the 3090). At what power usage is key. I will consider it a win if AMD can equal the 3080 at a lower power envelope and price.

I agree that I will also go with price to performance. Power less of a concern for me too, but the RTX 3080/ 3090 is certainly over what I feel as a reasonable power consumption. My threshold for graphic card power draw is around 300W, and both of these cards smashed that limit easily. So I am going to give these cards a pass. Looking to look at cards like the RTX 3070 with more sane power requirement and price.

Not all cases just have one exhaust fan l. Many cases have exhaust fans all over. Unless you like naked a tube to cover the entire rear and top of your case.

Vega was........ All hype and when it came out, I face Palmed. Oh, the only way to keep the Vega 64 from throttling is to liquid cool it. I'm talking about at stock settings. No undervolting or OC.

Liquid cooling FTW. I've been telling people for a long time now. Get started with a custom loop when you move into really small ITX cases. There is no more practical way to cooling and handle 500-600W of components in such a small volume without liquid cooling.

In small cases with like a SFX PSU, power is crucial. I think with a top end processor and the 3080 or 3090, you'd need at least 600W to be output by the PSU.
