i want to diy a desktop computer

since coffee lake is coming out, i shall not buy the motherboard and cpu first, but can i get the other parts? like the ssd?

i saw this samsung evo 850 250GB sata 3 MZ-75e250bw
carousell $135
qoo10 $159 (should i wait for $30 coupon)
shopee $129

which one is a good deal? are there cheaper ones elsewhere? or should i buy this next time and wait for price to drop?

The price of the Samsung Evo 850 is quite fixed though. Have not been dropping at all. I notice this when getting the 500GB Samsung Evo. For the large variations in prices, do watch out for warranty. Samsung Evo warranty is covered by eternal-asia. Usually those lower pricing are either export set or warranty set by the seller. Ultimately is see whether you are comfortable with it or not, to save that money or to be covered by the official distro.

You can based on the market price like Simlim square and do the price matching. Usually for 250GB, it is right now around $140+ then you compare this with online platform.

As for the decision on buying the ssd first, I suggest you wait. It is better to plan as whole system with your desired budget. The coupons will always be back, and it is very regularly released. There are $100 off for $600 spend too on Qoo10. You could even purchase more parts then.

I feel you should get it only when you need it. Currently SSD prices are high due to very high demands so no point rushing into it.

Buy when you need the SSD. The density increases every couple of years.

Samsung & Toshiba already announced they have QLC (4 layer MLC) products coming up, cost per GB will improve though write endurance will probably reduce. Normally the samsung SSD refresh is around Q3-4 to catch the holiday sale.
